Time, Laid In A Straight Line.
There’s something bold about turning a watch inside out and calling it the dial.
That’s essentially what Corum did in 1980 when Vincent Calabrese introduced the Golden Bridge. Instead of hiding the mechanics behind a surface, he stretched them into a single vertical line and placed them front and center. Not as a detail. As the entire point.
On paper, it sounds almost too pure. A movement reduced to its essentials, arranged in a straight axis, suspended in a rectangular case. In reality, it feels a lot more human. You see the balance wheel beating at the top, the gear train stepping down the spine, and the mainspring anchoring everything at the base. It reads top to bottom like a story you can follow without needing a loupe or a textbook.
Most Golden Bridges leave everything exposed. Great in theory, slightly less convincing when worn. The moment it hits the wrist, you’re not just looking at the movement anymore, you’re looking through it. Skin, shadows, the occasional arm hair making an unexpected cameo.
Here, Corum made a smarter call. A dark patterned backdrop sits behind the movement, repeating the key motif across the surface. It changes the entire experience. The movement lifts forward visually, almost floating, while the background gives it depth and contrast. You get the spectacle without the distraction.
The case follows the movement’s lead. Long, rectangular, 18k yellow gold, sized slim at 20 by 40 millimeters. The beveled sapphire adds another layer, pulling light across the edges so the whole thing shifts depending on how you look at it.
This is one of Corum’s most recognizable creations, presented here in a configuration that improves every tidbit of the model. Preserved in excellent condition and fitted on a new old stock Corum strap, it’s ready for its next chapter.

Overall excellent condition with strong case presence and a very clean presentation throughout.
The 18k yellow gold case shows light surface wear consistent with age, with sharp edges and well-defined proportions.
The dial and backdrop are clean, with the black patterned Corum key motif remaining crisp and intact.
The caseback is well preserved with visible engravings and hallmarks, all legible.
The hands and sapphire crystal are in excellent condition, with the crystal remaining clear and free of notable scratches or chips.
The watch is fitted on its original Corum black alligator strap with red underside and retains its original 18k Corum buckle.
The manual-wound caliber CO 113 is functioning as expected.
