For Your Eyes Only.

Piaget has always known how to make an entrance. In the late 1980s, they made one that could also pass as a magician’s exit. This is the Secret Watch—a creation so understated in its trickery that it could have been built for a gentleman spy with a knack for theater.

At first glance, it’s all ribbed gold grandeur: thick vertical lines across an 18k yellow gold case, the design interrupted only by a discreet sapphire cabochon at the base. That sapphire is more than ornament—it’s the cue. Press the left side of the case and the lid springs open, revealing a perfectly preserved silver-and-gold dial with sharp gold indices and sword hands. The transformation is pure sleight of hand, the horological equivalent of pulling a rabbit from a hat.

“Owning it is knowing the secret is half the fun.”

The proportions—29 x 21.5mm—give it an easy wearability, but this is no everyday piece. Produced in very limited numbers near the end of Piaget’s era as an independent maison, it represents the brand’s last flourish before joining Cartier’s orbit. The sapphire crystal protects the dial, and the deep blue alligator strap with its matching ribbed 18k deployant clasp ties the whole performance together.

Patina has settled beautifully between the ribs, giving depth and character without compromising the bold lines. It’s the kind of aging you can’t fake—proof that some secrets are worth keeping for decades. And for the wearer, the real pleasure comes when someone asks the time, and you get to answer with a reveal. James Bond might have worn it to charm an audience; you’ll wear it to own the room.

Excellent overall condition with light signs of wear consistent with age.
