Kiwi Bon Bon.
You can practically picture this Vacheron Constantin in the window of a French confectionery, wrapped in gold and waiting for someone with a sweet tooth. Between the green enamel, the oval links and those little gold connectors, it has all the charm of a beautifully wrapped bonbon. Please resist the urge to unwrap it.
This Maw Sit Sit Ellipse is one of the most remarkable pieces we’ve come across from the brand. Its 18mm-wide case becomes the centre of a bracelet built from repeating open ovals, each carrying the same twisted gold and green enamel decoration as the bezel. Fine engraved strokes follow the raised gold strands, while translucent green enamel fills the alternating diagonal sections. The effect recalls striped candy wrappers, right down to the smaller gold connectors that resemble their twisted ends.
The design flows beautifully around the wrist, with a signed interlocking clasp carrying the enamel pattern through the closure. Its Maltese cross is a lovely finishing touch.
Often confused with jade, Maw Sit Sit brings its own flavour to this dial: yellow-green stone scattered with dark natural markings, giving it an unmistakable kiwi look. Named for its locality in northern Myanmar, it is a rock made up of several minerals, with natural variations that give each cut its own pattern. This dial is beautifully preserved, without cracks or blemishes.
We’ve never encountered this combination of Maw Sit Sit and green enamel at Vacheron Constantin before. The speckled stone and striped gold bracelet make a particularly delicious pairing, and a memorable find for anyone collecting the brand’s more adventurous designs.
The French-made 18k yellow gold case bears eagle hallmarks, with a P suffix beside its case number indicating a stone dial is born with the watch. Winding takes place at the back, leaving the oval outline uninterrupted, and the bracelet accommodates a wrist up to approximately 6½ inches.
For a collector drawn to Vacheron’s more adventurous jewellery watches, there is a great deal to savour here. We’d happily take this one home from the candy counter.
