A Well-Laid Parquet Floor for Your Wrist.
You could spend a good minute admiring this bracelet before remembering to check the time. This 1960s Vacheron Constantin fits a tiny square dial into approximately 8mm of solid 18K yellow gold, giving most of the wrist to a particularly lovely run of herringbone links.
The repeating V-shaped pattern brings to mind herringbone tweed and a well-laid parquet floor, translated here into closely fitted, articulated gold. We’d strongly recommend keeping this one off the ground. Fine, irregular grooves give the links their bark finish, with the texture continuing around the dial so the watch feels embedded in the bracelet. Even the clasp joins the pattern neatly, its small rhombus-shaped tab echoing the pointed links. At approximately 37 grams in total, there’s a satisfying amount of gold in this petite package, which fits a wrist up to approximately 6.5 inches.
Vacheron managed to fit four pyramid-shaped gold markers, fine line indices and blued steel hands into a white dial barely wider than the bracelet. The full Vacheron et Constantin name takes its place along the case side, and the engraving is still sharp enough to read every letter.
Inside is Vacheron Constantin’s manually wound calibre 1005, wound from the back to keep a projecting crown out of the bracelet’s outline. Turn it over and the winding wheel reveals the mechanical side of the piece, alongside the French eagle hallmarks noted for this example.
We love a bracelet watch that gives you a reason to linger over the links. Here, the herringbone construction and bark finish make checking the time a small detour on the way to admiring the gold.
